Foraging, fermenting, cooking and stitching – since the Biophilia group turned one year old, we have been branching out and exploring new activities.

Among the many activities organised by Biophilia over the autumn and winter of 2025-26, I think one of my favourites was the Free Soup initiative. Biophilia members foraged, dumpster dove and harvested a delicious array of vegetables, which we cooked up into a delicious soup in the ACU kitchen (thank you, ACU folx, for your hospitality!). When the soup was cooked – and garnished with herbs and edible flowers from our very own planters in the library square – we carried out to our maple tree headquarters.

We served free soup to all comers, and shared one of Biophilia’s core values!
