We develop and implement the Polak game as a teaching module that teachers can implement in their existing courses. The Polak game stimulates reflection and discussion among students and teachers to establish common ground for collective climate action. Figure 1 below provides an illustration of implementing the Polak game (developed in WP2) in class.
We have successfully run a pilot with the Polak game with a large audience (N ~125) who participated in the Klimaatsymposium organized by Dynamics of Youth/NJI/JKB (https://www.uu.nl/agenda/symposium-de-impact-van-klimaatverandering-op-opvoeden-en-opgroeien, Becht was involved in the organization).
Learning goals
- Reflecting on one’s experienced sense of ‘agency’ concerning the climate crisis.
- Experiencing ‘connectedness’ with others through collective reflection on the climate crisis.
- Understanding one’s emotions related to the climate crisis and their imagination of the future.
